Ohio TechNet (OTN) plays a strategic role in connecting Ohio’s education and talent ecosystem for rapid growth in the microelectronics and semiconductor industries. Its work spans consortium leadership, curriculum development, faculty training, and industry-aligned workforce programming.
Midwest Microelectronics Consortium (MMEC) Sharing Initiative
The Midwest Microelectronics Consortium (MMEC) supports the growth of the region’s microelectronics ecosystem through collaboration in research, workforce development, and supply chain innovation.
Through Ohio TechNet’s partnership with MMEC, this work helps strengthen curriculum sharing efforts and expand access to semiconductor and microelectronics learning across education and experience levels.
Northeast Ohio Semiconductor Workforce Consortium
The Ohio TechNet Northeast Ohio Semiconductor Workforce Consortium is funded through Intel’s Semiconductor Education and Research Program (SERP). It is advancing Ohio’s role in the semiconductor industry by expanding education, training, and research opportunities.
Through partnerships with colleges, universities, and employers, this consortium helps build a skilled talent pipeline and supports innovation critical to national and regional competitiveness.
Ohio Manufacturing Talent Partnership (OMTP)
The Ohio Manufacturing Workforce Blueprint is a statewide strategy to align, grow and strengthen Ohio’s manufacturing workforce. The Blueprint is led by the Ohio Manufacturers’ Association’s (OMA’s) Workforce Leadership Committee comprised of manufacturing leaders, OMA, and the Governor’s Office of Workforce Transformation in partnership with Ohio Department of Job & Family Services, JobsOhio, Ohio TechNet, Ohio Department of Education & Workforce, and Ohio Department of Higher Education.
Northeast Ohio (NEO) Opportunities in Tech
The Northeast Ohio Opportunities in Tech initiative, funded by the U.S. Department of Labor, aims to build a highly skilled tech workforce by connecting participants to high-demand IT jobs and career pathways. Through training, support services, and employer engagement, the project expands access to quality jobs across the region’s growing tech sector.
Consortium partners include: Lorain County Community College, Cuyahoga Community College, Lakeland Community College, Stark State College, Greater Cleveland Partnership, and Team NEO.
Ohio TechNet Defense Industrial Base (DIB) STEM Consortium
The Defense Industrial Base (DIB) STEM Project, funded by the U.S. Department of War National Defense Education Program (NDEP), engages students in hands-on learning to build awareness of advanced manufacturing and defense-related STEM careers. By partnering with education and industry, the project helps strengthen the talent pipeline critical to national security and innovation.
Industrial Training Assessment Center (ITAC) Expansion at Lorain County Community College
Supported by the U.S. Department of Energy, the Industrial Training Assessment Centers (ITAC) project provides hands-on training for students while helping manufacturers improve energy efficiency and reduce costs. Through real-world assessments and applied learning, the initiative strengthens both workforce readiness and industrial competitiveness.
Northeast Ohio Collaborative Climate Resilience
The Northeast Ohio Collaborative Climate Resilience, led by The Ohio State University, is an initiative that supports the development of a skilled workforce prepared to address climate resilience and sustainability. Through education, training, and community partnerships, the project equips individuals with the tools to support climate-adaptive industries and strengthen local environmental resilience efforts. Ohio TechNet serves as a partner to provide leadership in designing a climate-informed workforce development program with a curriculum that trains workers to access good jobs and enhance climate resilience.
Northshore Manufacturing Workforce Partnership (NMWP)
The Northshore Manufacturing Workforce Partnership (NMWP), funded by the U.S. Department of Labor, expands access to manufacturing careers through industry-led training, support services, and employer engagement. The initiative focuses on building a resilient, inclusive workforce to meet the talent needs of manufacturers in the Northshore region.
Partnership collaborators include: the Ohio Manufacturers’ Association, MAGNET, the Ohio Association of Community Colleges, Lorain County Community College, Cuyahoga Community College, North Central State College, Owens Community College, and Terra State Community College.
