Q: I’m an educator seeking materials to assist with recruiting students into manufacturing training programs. Any suggestions?

A: Ohio TechNet partnered with the Ohio Manufacturers’ Association to launch MakingOhio.com. Check out these cool resources! We also suggest exploring the Ohio Manufacturers’ Association’s Workforce Services, CreatorsWanted and Engaging Diverse Talent.

Q: I’m seeking up-to-date Manufacturing Career Pathways that have been vetted by Ohio’s manufacturers. What do you recommend?

A: The Ohio Manufacturers’ Association worked closely with a group of manufacturers to develop Manufacturing Career Pathways. Be sure to share this info with potential students and their parents; your advising teams; faculty; and enrollment services staff. Manufacturing in Ohio offers many pathways to prosperity!

Q: My college/university would like to expand Credit for Prior Learning Assessment (PLA). Can you recommend any helpful tools?

A: Yes! Please check out FastPathOhio.com and contact ohiotechnet@lorainccc.edu for more information.

Q: Employers in our region are seeking entry-level workers with some foundational skills. Can you suggest any programs that other colleges have launched to address this need?

A: Ohio TechNet highly recommends the Ohio Manufacturing Foundations Certificate. Additionally, feel free to explore the OTN Members to find out about programs designed to meet the training needs of entry-level workers.

Q: My school is exploring innovative Earn & Learn programs but we just don’t know where to begin. Can you point me in the direction of a useful Earn & Learn Toolkit for educators?

A: OTN partners Columbus State Community College and Lorain County Community College collaborated to create an EARN Replication Guide. Check out all the replication resources on page 17 of this guide! Need additional info, including program contacts? The EARN webpage can help!

Q: As we explore Earn & Learn programs, we need to engage employers. Any chance there’s an Earn & Learn Guide that’s aimed at helping employers launch a program?

A: Ohio TechNet partners with the Ohio Manufacturers’ Association to coordinate the Ohio Manufacturing Workforce Partnership (OMWP). OMWP created the Innovative Earn & Learn Strategies for Building Ohio’s Manufacturing Workforce toolkit containing resources and tips that employers will find useful.

Q: The educators and manufacturers in our region are interested in learning more about Industry Sector Partnerships. Can you point us in the right direction?

Q: Where can I find free Open Education Resources for workforce training?

A: Ohio TechNet recommends SkillsCommons, a workforce development digital library with FREE and OPEN workforce training materials for 21st-century employment.
